DC's Iconic Sandman Series Is Becoming An Audible Drama

Welcome to the Dreaming, home of the Endless.

For more than 30 years, Sandman has loomed large in the annals of comic book history as one of the most famous Vertigo series of all time. Created by Neil Gaiman alongside artists Sam Kieth and Mark Dringenberg, Sandman introduced the Dreaming, a metaphysical realm populated by the Endless, the personifications of things like Death, Desire, and perhaps most importantly Dream--also known as Morpheus, who functioned as one of the series' central protagonists. Now, Audible will be bringing Dream and his adventures to an entirely new medium with an audio series produced and narrated by Gaiman himself. Take a listen to the trailer below.

Gaiman will be teaming up with Dirk Maggs who previously worked with him on the audiobook adaptations of many of Gaiman's novels.

Dave Blum, Editor-in-Chief of Audible Originals described the project as "huge in scope and ambition" and based entirely on Gaiman's original notes and scripts. He continued, "our production dives deep into Neil's imagination as if he is writing these tales beside us, lifting out details and story elements few have been privy to until now,” shared Dirk Maggs. “Audio uniquely complements the comic book artists' visual imagination and Neil's creative brilliance, while our amazing cast and Jim Hannigan's music add new emotional punch. This project's three-decade incubation period has been worth every minute of the wait. It's the very essence of Neil Gaiman's Sandman."

The Sandman will hit Audible in the summer of 2020 in English, and be released in French, German, Italian, and Spanish subsequently.
