DC Universe has announced yet another series for DC Entertainment's upcoming streaming service. This time around, the company revealed plans for the live-action drama Doom Patrol, a reimagining of the comic book team of the same name. At this time, it is set to debut sometime in 2019.

The new one-hour drama already has a 13 episode order, and none other than Greg Berlanti will executive produce alongside Geoff Johns, Jeremy Carver, and Sarah Schechter. Berlanti has produced DC's CW series The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Arrow, and Supergirl. Carver will be writing Doom Patrol.

While many of the other announced series remain a bit of a mystery, DC revealed a pretty detailed synopsis of the new show. "Doom Patrol is a re-imagining of one of DC's most beloved group of outcast super heroes: Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Girl, and Crazy Jane, led by modern-day mad scientist Dr. Niles Caulder (The Chief)," stated DC's press release. "The Doom Patrol's members each suffered horrible accidents that gave them superhuman abilities--but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found purpose through The Chief, who brought them together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence--and to protect Earth from what they find.

"Part support group, part super hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of super-powered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. Picking up after the events of Titans, Doom Patrol will find these reluctant heroes in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse, but with a warning that is hard to ignore: their lives will never, ever be the same."

Interestingly enough, this show will expand on the DC Television Universe. Whether or not this has a connection to the CW series or the cinematic universe is unknown. However, it will follow the events of DC Universe's other new series, Titans, which was announced earlier this month, alongside Young Justice: Outsiders. Additionally, a James Wan-produced Swamp Thing drama series was announced as well for 2019. This is the fifth new show announced for the service.

At the time of this writing, it's unknown how much the service will cost or when it will debut. Hopefully, DC Universe includes some classic content as well like Batman: The Animated Series and Young Justice to keep subscribers young and old happy. Both Doom Patrol and Swamp Thing have been announced for 2019, so it's likely the service will launch late this year or early 2019.
