Dave Bautista Really Wants To Play The Lead In Netflix's Gears Of War Movie
"I can't make this any easier," tweeted Bautista.
Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista really really wants to be in Netflix's Gears of War movie, indicated by a video the actor posted of himself in the game's iconic armor on Twitter. Bautista posted the video only days after a Gears of War movie and animated series was announced as coming to Netflix.
"I can't make this any easier," he said, tagging both Netflix and the official Gears of War Twitter account. Though definitely a dramatic move by Bautista, he is not at all being impulsive in campaigning for a shot at appearing in a Gears of War adaptation. Last year, Bautista shared in an interview that he actually turned down a role in Fast and Furious for a shot at becoming Marcus Fenix in a Gears of War adaptation.
Gears of War is set on a planet on the brink of societal collapse when a monstrous threat from underground creatures known as the Locust. With humanity on the brink of extinction, the legendary Delta Squad, a highly-trained fireteam led by disgraced sergeant Marcus Fenix, is now charged with leading humanity's last stand against its ground-dwelling enemies. A Gears movie has been in the works since at least 2007.
Cliff Bleszinski, who designed the Gears of War series at Epic Games before departing the studio in 2012, has said--also on Twitter--that if he he has any say in the casting (which he does not), he would not choose Chris Pratt to be involved in any way. "Keep Chris Pratt away from the Gears franchise, please, FFS," tweeted Bleszinski.
Bautista joins an impressive ensemble cast for Netflix's Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, which will come to the streaming service on December 23, and be in theaters for one week only on November 23. A nearly three-minute trailer came for the Rian Johnson whodunit came out last week.
