Darksiders II targets summer release, Wii U version at launch
Vigil Entertainment's action adventure sequel looks to be among the first titles available on Nintendo's tablet-sporting console.
Fans waiting for the follow-up to Vigil Entertainment's Darksiders will have to maintain their own vigil a while longer. The second coming of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse action adventure now has a confirmed release window well into next year.
THQ has announced that Darksiders II is now slated to hit the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in the summer of 2012 and is anticipated to be a Wii U launch title. The Wii U's launch date has not been announced, but Nintendo has previously said that it hopes to release the console sometime next year. The Wii U's launch hardware is slated to be on hand at the 2012 Electronic Entertainment Expo next June.
Darksiders II follows the horseman Death, brother of the original game's protagonist, War. The sequel will tell a parallel story to the original instead of continuing on from that title's conclusion. In the game, Death will attempt to clear War's "good" name (he's accused of starting the End of Times ahead of time) and save humankind in the process.
