Once primed for a late 2009 liftoff, Dark Void was among the multitude of big-name releases delayed to the first part of 2010. With the game's January 17 launch for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 just two weeks away, Capcom will be giving gamers an advanced screening by way of a demo this week.

The Dark Void sampler offers a single level of Capcom's latest action adventure, in which an ace pilot manages to step into an alternate dimension. Though the publisher was light on specifics, gamers will apparently be able to try out a range of ground-based combat, as well as jetpack-fueled aerial dog-fighting. The demo arrives on Xbox Live tomorrow, January 6, with the PlayStation Network edition touching down as part of Sony's weekly update on Thursday.

Dark Void is the first project from developer Airtight Games, home to several veterans of the shuttered FASA Studios (Crimson Skies). It sees mankind fighting The Watchers, an alien race banished by humanity to an alternate universe after its members developed superpowers. The game has also been picked up by Brad Pitt's Plan B production studio for adaptation into a live-action feature film.
