Masterpiece. Recommended

@spartanro: Yes, it is a very good game. Basically they take parts from Demon Souls, DKS 1 & 2 and mixed in a little Bloodborne and boom, out comes the baby of DS 3. The only thing I am not sure about yet is the fact you don't transition from area to area like we did in DKS 1. That feature brought a different element to the game that I enjoyed. I am not saying that going back to the root of Demon Souls is a bad thing, I just am not sure why they went back to having a central hub area. I kind of wish we had a central hub and the ability to transition from area to area. I think that would probably be the best of both worlds because I do like having my vendors on one area but I also like that element of surprise when you transition from one area to the other. You get that "oh shit" feeling or "what do we have here" lol

@CyrusDrake20: It depends on how you look at it. Using wikis or not both have advantages. Not using wikis I can promise you, you will miss a portion of the game.

@blprater: how are you meant to parry coz the simple block doesnt do it you have to time it ?

Avatar image for blprater

@lastofus234: Parrying is all about timing. Look up some videos on Dark Souls parrying. You have to use you parry ability as soon as the enemy is about to hit you. It is an art in itself and take patience to learn how to do. With blocking, you really need a shield that has 100% block damage. If you are new to the Souls Series, I would suggest you start out using the Knight and spend a little time in the early stages of the game learning a play style for you that works best and get acclimated with your character. You can always change the gear later (which you will, once you upgrade). Also, learn the move set of enemies. Most of the time they have a certain hack and slash move set and if you wait, you can usually back step, roll or move to the side and hit them a few times before they start the move set over again. Patience is the key to these games. You run in with a sword a swinging, you are likely to get slaughtered. Especially when you encounter multiple enemies at one time. Let me know if I can help further.

@blprater: i ended up going mercenary so far its been good i use a long sword and a shield but yeh i cant parry im terrible at it. Im fine with most enemies i know to read the attack pattens its just the bosses that give me the most trouble. I cant find any new armour yet im just past the second boss ive been flown down to the new area half way through there at the big tree with the fire around it is there any new armour or weapons near me?

Avatar image for blprater

@lastofus234: Did you get the Claymore? It was in Lorthic where the dragon breathing fire down was at. Not sure if your build could support the Claymore but it is a very popular sword that can be used through most of the game if not the entire game.

@silversix_: But gamespot gave this an 8, which definitely makes it not a masterpiece. Because gamespot's opinion is the only one that matters, right?

@moose-fitz: Absolutely right. You're spot on. DkS3 is not a masterpiece.

Got to Tower on the Wall and so far haven't died! :O 1h30m. Haven't read anything about the game yet, still playing offline (waiting for patch to finish).

Excellent so far. Level of Detail tweaking isn't as polished as Bloodborne but otherwise gorgeous! Very happy. Rockin' dat day 1 steel book edition.

Have fun and good luck!

@girlusocrazy: I guess they hold back the level of detail to gain faster "continue"

Avatar image for girlusocrazy
GirlUSoCrazy

@r31ya: It seems the load times are faster than Bloodborne, but I mean when you're already loaded and playing, as you run very fast sometimes objects in the distance pop into existence. Maybe it has to do with my hard disk speed or maybe it is something miscalculated by the game.

I've only noticed this in the area before the Iudex Gundyr, after that I haven't seen it anywhere.
