SPOILERS

@Good_Guy_Malachai

I feel like the lord of cinder is your DS1 character and that's why he doesn't have a name. This is what happens when you link the flame.

Missed champion gundyr only.

Even though Cursed Great Wood is technically optional, you sort'a need it to make boss/ mini boss weapons and to advance many quest-lines. Besides the boss is unmissable in all respects. If you somehow didn't notice the spear giant zone that's on the players for not doing very basic exploring.

Is the nameless king Gwyn?

@stelios: It's heavily implied in the item descriptions for his armor set, sword-spear, and miracle you can make from his soul that this is Gwyn's firstborn son that was banished and whose name was stricken from the record. The fact that he's listed as the "nameless" king reinforces this in my opinion, as well as being referenced as a "god of war" as Gwyn's firstborn was also referred to in DS1. From Software did mention a return of Gwyn in DS3, but after beating the game I'm pretty sure the appearance they're referring to is the final boss, Soul of Cinder's, Gwyn phase when he adopts most of the moveset of Gwyn and the music changes to a kind of homage to his boss track from DS1. Of course as with all Dark Souls lore, this is just my opinion based on observations and I could be totally wrong, lol.

@stelios: He has a name, so not likely.

I don't play the game but I wonder, does stuff like this spoil it? Would you rather discover things like this yourself?

@hystavito: Already beat the game so not really, could ruin NG++ stuff that I don't know about though.

@hystavito: Yes, I think so. I've already beaten them all, otherwise I'd have stayed away.

The optional bosses were pretty fun. Im glad the Nameless King was hard, considering how most other bosses were easy.
