Dark Souls 3 DLC Season Pass Listed on Xbox One and Steam, Content Teased

The season pass contains new maps, bosses, enemies, and additional weapon and armor sets.

Dark Souls III is a little more than a month away, but if you want to go all-in and buy its Season Pass, then you can preorder it right now on Xbox One and PC. The PS4 currently offers a bundle, but it does not have the Season Pass for sale on its own.

No Caption Provided

The Season Pass costs $24.99, but not much is known about the content you'll receive from purchasing it. All we know is that it will contain two different DLC packs that include new maps, bosses, enemies, and additional weapon and armor sets.

We have reached out to Bandai Namco for more details on what the Dark Souls III Season Pass will offer to players. We will update this story as more information becomes available.

You can currently preorder the DLC pass on its own on Steam and Xbox Marketplace.

It was recently confirmed that the original Dark Souls would be included for free with digital preorders of Dark Souls III on Xbox One. If you want to learn more about Dark Souls III, you can check out GameSpot's preview right here. And you can read our interview with series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki here.

it's not going to get any more expensive with time, so i'll just wait until they're all out and play everything in one go, like i did with DS2. it just feels better than playing dark souls piecemeal.

Dark souls 1 and 2 had some of the best DLC I've seen on any game.

I already know it will be worth getting...but I'll wait, not so desperate that I need it in advance

@Gomtor: Agreed. I never saw the point in paying for something when you have no idea what you're going to get. If the DLC is good and worth the money spent, then I'd go for it.

Not interested in DLCs much, after finishing the main story I didn't feel like playing the Crowns DLCs, though I'm sure they're good. There are so many games to play now that I feel I'm wasting my time if I play DLCs that are only marginally related (or unrelated) to the main story.

Go F yourselves From software

add something new in the damn series or just dont do a sequel. This trend is so old now I wonder why ppl are still interested in dark souls 3.

@wexorian:

Not milked ? Then why is it getting worse with each sequel ?

I LOVED dark souls and I supported demon souls when probably you didnt even know about it. Bloodborne and dark souls 2 are nowhere near dark souls 1 in quality overall. Dark souls 3 will be at best just a copy paste of dark souls 1 which is pretty bad in my opinion. Cause its like 6 years later and still the same old generic systems in the game. they dont even bother to enhance the combat. I just dont like to play the exact same shit over and over and still pay money every time

@aiat_gamer:

No they were not.

Dark souls 2 was crap. Also bloodborne was a downgrade in everything we've seen in Dark Souls.. Dark souls 3 has to offer something awesome to make me look back at this same shit over and over franchise

they should have stopped at dark souls 1. dark souls 3 offers nothing at all it should have been just a DLC to dark souls 2.

When sequels come they should offer something new to justify its existence.

I never claimed I know anything about it. I've seen its videos and none of them showed anything new. No articles about any kind of some new feature whatsoever about the game.

Are expecting it to be different than its predecessors ? you can only hope ithat it turns up exactly like dark souls 1. Thats the best From software can do :P

Are you not counting demon souls and bloodborne in this series ? are you stupid enough to not think they all are 80% the exact same thing ?

they arent sequels but they are the same game basically.

Dark Souls is probably the only series where the DLC didn't just disappoint, but ended up being better than the base game itself. Loved the crown trilogy of Dark Souls 2.

I'm starting to despise the gaming industry. Preorder season pass? I'm tired of companies revealing DLC before the game is even released. Greed, greed, and more greed.

@roler42: +10. No problem in buying the DLC, but if you pay for season pass before release of the DLC, then you probably still live with your parents or like to throw money into a bottomless pit, hoping to get something in return.

The DLC for the Souls games and Bloodborne have been fantastic. One of the few series i would ever buy into a season pass for.

But still, no point in preordering. It's digital.

Good job guys. You know you have made it big when your DLC up for digital preorder is leaked ahead of the game launching.

@sladakrobot: He's not exaggerating. If I would have waited until my birthday to buy Bloodborne, I could have gotten it for $30 or so.

Souls games are great but they're quick to get seriously discounted. Not the DLC though. They never go on sale. Heck, right now it's cheaper to buy Scholar than it is to buy the 3 DLC's.

@Barighm: The Astoria DLC was 2x on dale back then for cheap money.

Still didnt bought it coz for me as a pole wep user, there was only weapon of interest in the DLC(the fork) but it wasnt better then the weps i had already and the 2nd reason was the fact there was no new achievements.

Yea...I'm not about to pre-order and buy season pass on a "Promise" blindly regardless of the game. Witcher 3 downgrade taught me that the hard way.

Two things worth mentioning:

1.) The game is still a month away, so it's very likely they will detail the DLC before the game's release.

2.) The bundle, at least on PS4, costs $85. Which means that there is no discount, only themes and whatever. So if you decide to wait until the DLC releases to purchase it, you will not be spending any extra money.

@cboye18: They sorta did; I preordered Witcher 3 from them directly for 44 dollars thanks to their loyalty system and all future expansions were all purchasable for 25 bucks not that long after the game came out. That essentially was a season pass.

That said, they did it in a more sensible manner by waiting months after the game out and waiting till it was a unarguably an expansion beyond what was possible from the game before.

@lozandier: You compare CDPR from software to other dlcs like cod, destiny,ac and more? can't even compare to those crappy cash grab, where CDPR and From software gave us Amazing dlcs, only witcher 3 expansions are 60 hour to play both together ,and DS 2 dlcs were amazing and fresh so really can't compare or whine about those.

@wexorian: Only when it comes to the concept of "Season Pass" for their expansions, not the quality of CDPR's DLC in general (or their handling of it) which is definitely handled better than their industry colleagues in the AAA segment of the industry today.

I see this like witcher 3 adding expansions. To the souls community we already know the main game itself is already big enough filled with content and bosses So im not worried about the dlc content at all.

@Thanatos2k: Not dumb, but primarily intended for incumbent fans of the series. It's not something that should be done for *new* IPs without heavy, heavy scrutiny (unless it's a spiritual successor to an existing IP by the same game developer).

To be consistent, I'd consider the Battlefront Season Pass "extremely risky"; not this Season Pass or Fallout 4's.

Questioanble, but entirely reasonable would be Witcher 3's & XCOM 2'd.

Other extremely risky season pass investments would be The Division (new IP; what exactly are you getting)?

@Thanatos2k: That's an either-or fallacy though. It's never that simple. There's a reason why it's continuously being done for established series that have successful expansions in the past; I personally think it's less justifiable for an entirely new IP from developers who have no history of being successful with both that type of game and DLC of that kind.

@Thanatos2k: Im not worried about the content Honestly because its a developper that i trust and they have not let me down Since 2008. I completly understand if Others would wait for more info but in reality all it can be is new worlds with new bosses and weapons/spells for each expansion and every expansion since ds1 has always Been worth what they ask. Once again i understand if others dont like This kind of early announcement for DLC but Fromsoftware has never dissapointed me.
