Dark Souls 3 DLC Announcement Coming August 24

The first of Dark Souls 3’s two expansions may finally be fully revealed.

The Dark Souls team took to Twitter today to tease the announcement of Dark Souls 3’s first DLC expansion. According to the official Dark Souls Twitter account, the DLC will be revealed on August 24. You can see the tweet embedded below:

This will be the first major piece of DLC released for From Software’s action-RPG Dark Souls III, which first launched back in March and received a positive review here on GameSpot, despite some early issues with the PC version.

A previous announcement indicated the game’s first post-launch DLC would hit this fall, so the August 24 announcement could potentially confirm that window or even set a firm release date. We also know this expansion will be the first of two thanks a to a $25 Season Pass option that popped up in digital storefronts back in February. The expansions will likely be available individually as well.

According to an earlier leak, this DLC may contain--as you might expect--new maps, bosses, and weapons, but we’ll likely find out for sure next week. Be sure to check back August 24 for our full report.

We could all do with a bit more Dragon, ey? Since there's only one in the core game, which can be killed by magic within 10 secs (and yes i'm talking about the King of Storms, the Ancient 1-shot was pretty boring and Oceiros i don't really see as a Dragon).

I would love some good ol' gank boss like ornstein & smough, or the gank squad from the Shulva-DLC, those were fun fights. Also cool would be a boss that uses illusions against the player, like the Idol in Demon's Souls.

Weaponwise i'd love some weapons that have a good dex scaling, are not katanas, but DO have a kick. No kick is the reason i don't use curved swords. While i generally do love curved swords, i just really need to kick stuff.

Lastly wether those things will be included or not i'm sure it will be a grand DLC as those that came before.

Please don't recycle bosses like they did with Dark Souls 2 DLC. Blue Smelter Demon was just a lazy last second effort but than again, 75% of the DS2 bosses were bad.

@sonypony4eva: Yes, recycling bosses is lame. But in the same DLC we got Fume Knight and Sir Alonne, not a bad trade :)

@Ninjalawpsn: i still need to get that one gesture from heysel, but everytime i end up rather helping Sirris :) Can't help it. i recently did all the pointless infusions though which i could never be bothered with (bleed, poison, raw, blessed), so the gesture is the last trophy i need. but it's still gonna take some time before i'm ready for it ;)

@RaveNRolla: Yeah, that was one of the last gestures I'd gotten myself lol. I didn't get it until new game+3. I experimented with the infusions, but wasn't happy with any of them, so I just stuck with straight damage using the resins and such and ended up doing even more damage with the build I was using (Straight melee assassin build).

@Ninjalawpsn: some weapons get better through infusions and some don't. i like sharp, heavy and refined infusions for melee builds, since they still allow weapons to be buffed with resins and spells. but for example the onikiri & ubadachi does less damage with a sharp infusion at 40 dex, which is weird, whereas the gotthard twinblades actually do more damage sharp at 40 dex. Depending on your weapon i'd try sharp (assassin sounds like dex-build) and see what it does.

@Ninjalawpsn: unless your strength is equally high you HAVE to try sharp. i mean before you use the actual gem you can see the effect it would do at the smith, so you can check beforehand if the damage becomes more (base damage gets lower but scaling damage increases).

No actual DLC confirmation at all. So while it's certainly logical to ASSUME that the DLC will be announced, Gamespot shouldn't be publishing articles based on speculation as fact.

I finally finished DS3 last week in preparation for this new DLC. And now i'm close to the end on a 2nd character...

I might end up with a 3rd character if this DLC doesn't come out soon.
