Dark Souls 3 Complete Edition Includes All DLC, Out Now

Take a look at the launch trailer for Dark Souls 3: The Fire Fades Edition.

With the launch of Dark Souls III's final expansion, The Ringed City, last month, the complete game is now out in the wild. While no more content will come for the threequel, publisher Bandai Namco has released a new version that includes all previously released DLC. Dark Souls III: The Fire Fades Edition is out now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and you can take a look at the launch trailer above.

The collection contains the base game in addition to all the season pass content--so the Ashes of Ariandel and Ringed City expansions are included in the US $50 / £40 / AU $90 price tag. The Fire Fades Edition is available both physically and digitally in the UK and Australia, though it is unclear if the PC version is coming to the US. PC players can, however, purchase the previously released Dark Souls III Deluxe Edition, which includes the base game and the season pass for $85.

In our Ashes of Ariendel review, critic Miguel Concepcion said the expansion "is ultimately a safe addition to Dark Souls III," but he did call it a "fitting extension" with an "impressive final boss." Our Ringed City review, meanwhile, called what could be the final chapter in the Dark Souls story "a worthy conclusion to a storied franchise."

In other Dark Souls news, publisher Bandai Namco recently teased a new game using a tagline very similar to one repeatedly used with the Souls franchise. The new title was later revealed to be a vampire-themed RPG that has no apparent connection to Dark Souls.

I'm done with this series unless it comes to switch. Or a better way to put it, in done with anything that isn't on switch for the foreseeable future.

Dark Souls on Switch. Make it happen, guys. I don't care if you dumb down textures and keep it at 720p. Just being able to take it on the go is the main selling point.

Best time to buy single player focused games, when they get GOTY release.

Overall, with the DLC it is easily the best game of 2016-2017 for me. But I know many would argue that statement. Can't express how much I enjoyed The Ringed City.

Yet the Bosses never got me as excited as Sister Friede.

The ending moments really stood out for me and just a heads up, in the last boss area you can find a DUGS Ringed Knight circling in a corner. I have no idea what he's doing. . . He can even fight you during the boss fight itself.

They should have legit named it 'Prepare to Cry Edition' cuz that's the only thing I'm gonna do while I'm playing it: Cry.

@and1salttape: Don't be like that, media always over exaggerate the difficulty. Everything in the DLC can be beat. You can do it. But if you coop expect Invaders like myself :)

@RSM-HQ: lol I wasn't referring to the difficulty. After 3 games it's difficult enough to find it difficult lol. I was referring to the series ending... that's the sad thing here...

Not like the story changes in any meaningful way with the DLC. Anyone hoping for some sort of resolution to the trilogy is going to be disappointed.

Coming from someone who has bought the season pass and every single Limited Edition you could get your hands on over the course of the trilogy. There's not exactly a satisfactory conclusion to anything.

@BeefoTheBold: I was very satisfied with how it ended, so I disagree. Mind you I don't go in as a lore junkie.

The connections to all the games becomes clear as the DLC comes to a close, defeating a fellow Champion of Ash, Face and meet Gods of the Age of Fire. A Ancient Dragon that tried to consume the Dark. And finally a man who knew he had no chance but wanted to aid the Painting Girl who wishes to paint a new world for those to live through the Age of Darkness.

So yeah, plus Painting Girl was the most cheerful character since Onion Bro and Solaire. And is nice to know that in turn, she is the one who prevents everything being a waste of time.

@BeefoTheBold: The fact that it doesn't have a 'clear' ending is what gives its ending any meaning. I mean, let's be honest, which Dark Souls in the entire series had a conclusive ending? could you really call that ending?

Play it for the lore. Either the story makes sense or it doesn't, and either way you'll enjoy it.

@BeefoTheBold: This. Both DLCs just sort of ...end. sort of. You're just standing there like, this is it?

The OG ending is the ending.

@dirthurts: I don't know, The Ringed City clearly takes place after the days of collecting Lords of Cinder.

It gave me the impression the Fire linking in base-game failed. Hence why a certain someone near the end even states "What, still here?" He's surprised you still lived through your age in the time he originally met you. But after the Painting DLC, time works differently in that world so who knows how long it was after defeating the other Ashen.

Like Patches, no reason your character couldn't be around after the Firelinking and returned as a LoC or something else.

But perhaps I'm getting ahead of myself and my theories. I think The Painting Girl was the true answer to making things better. She wishes to build a new world for those living in the age of Dark. And that gave me at least solace.

But you can't please everyone. What would have worked for you, a fifth ending to Soul of Cinder?

@RSM-HQ: I like your theories, and they have some merit.

For me, yeah. I expected playing the DLC to open up some final ending that wasn't available. I mean, to me the DLC doesn't feel like a different time,a s you're just bonfire warping below (from what I can tell) the final battle ground. I feel like it's just a side step before you take on the final boss.

But, I've not taken the time to analyze it really. To me, it felt mostly meaningless honestly.

@dirthurts: Yeah, I also wish The Ringed City had an opening cinematic, but my conclusion is it's suppose to be played straight after the Ashes of Ariandel DLC. So my speculation is time moved quite a lot during your time in the painting, or you just lived a long time after the encounter due to having a purpose in helping The Painting Girl.

Just went back into the game for the new dlc and started a new character to eventually try the ringed city as going back to a older character after a long time off in these types of games is very confusing not exactly knowing where into the game youve progressed and what you found/havent found or completed yet may feel very overwhelming. Also my main which was a Tyrande cosplay is halfway through NG+ and her build wasnt really for ng+ I mostly wanted the missing rings for the trophy and ive heard TRC is difficult and already a high level area so I doubt Id be able to progress alot without cheesing it with summons. Anyway, hope

To see more people jump into the game with the new complete edition release!

@gameroutlawzz: if you are like me and do everything on each ng+ cycle (beat all optional bosses) you can just check your inventory for the boss souls (inc. Rosaria, Demon etc) and you know your progress. I always check everything before starting a new cycle. It's not even that necessary anymore since Dark Souls got a lot more mainstream and you'll hardly be missing out by passing up on a few items, but it's a habit from the Old Days of Demon's Souls and the 1st Dark Souls, where some items were really rare, so it was the best to get all of these items on each playthrough (like Dragonscale or Fire Keeper Souls in Dark Souls or Primeval Demon's Souls in Demon's Souls).

@gameroutlawzz: "ive heard TRC is difficult and already a high level area so I doubt Id be able to progress alot without cheesing it with summons"

Reads like an excuse. Beat it on NG+++ with a SL65. The Plus runs don't really get as tough as previous games in the series, all the enemies just get spongy in The Ringed City.

Don't think you have to do that at all for victory. Just adapt to the game like many do.

"her build wasn't really for ng+"

Perhaps respec your poorly built Ashen.

But I don't judge, play the game as you like. Just keep in mind the DLC is a hotspot for Invasions, and I'm no exception >:)

@sladakrobot: Well I would love to see it.

Framerate can be a funny thing with From Software games as the animations are all built for 30FPS. The game runs fine at 60FPS on P.C. but heavily dips and can make some enemies perform odd animations. And I've read horror stories about the Pro update. Try the 120FPS force Mod on P.C. however and it runs like garbage.

I'd say 4K won't happen though, and if it does it won't look as impressive as you would think. As stated From Software build games less for capping performance, technical standards and instead focus on making a game they want to play.

@sladakrobot: I highly doubt it. I'd put money against it actually.

PS4 pro just now got a pro update, and all they did was turn off the frame rate cap.

Grab the game used. Skip the first DLC (one of the weakest if not THE weakest dlc from the whole Soulsborne series). Get the 2nd dlc. Enjoy.

@silversix_: Ashes by itself was a very good piece of content. Leveldesign and enemies were awesome and there were some cool new weapons (spells not so much). It was just VERY VERY SHORT for the price, which is why everybody was kinda disappointed with it (including me).

@silversix_: I think it's weak only in that it shouldn't have been DLC. If it were just a bit of a secret area included in the game like the original Painted World of Ariamis in the first DS then it would have had a much better reception since the new painted world is actually a good area when compared to all of the other sections. However when pushed as an expansion and sold to us as if it adds a great deal to the game or lore like a worthy expansion should then it falls flat.
