Daniel Radcliffe Says He Could Play Harry Potter Again on This Condition

"It would depend on the script."

Daniel Radcliffe, who portrayed the wizard hero Harry Potter in the blockbuster Warner Bros. movie series, has not ruled out playing the magical part again sometime down the road.

In an interview with Radio Times, Radcliffe said he would only return if the script was strong enough.

No Caption Provided

"It would depend on the script," he said, as reported by Entertainment Weekly. "The circumstances would have to be pretty extraordinary. But then I am sure Harrison Ford said that with Han Solo and look what happened there!"

"So I am saying, 'No,' for now, but leaving room to backtrack in the future."

Like other Harry Potter stars, Radcliffe has kept busy after the Harry Potter main film series wrapped up with 2011's The Deathly Hallows - Part 2. He had parts in stage plays such as Equus and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, while he's also been in films including The Woman in Black, Horns, and most recently, Swiss Army Man.

Radcliffe is not pegged to appear in the upcoming Harry Potter movie spinoff, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them or the stage play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

@swisdwag: JK Rowling is richer than the Queen of Britain, she doesn't need any more money, and her non-HP related books after HP have been very successful both in sales and with critics.

I don't think you know what you are talking about.

I wish I could say that with what I work today. "**** off mate, I don't want this job... today". Suppose I have to study harder to be exceptional then. Oh life, nothing is easy.

A shitty actor comparing himself to Harrison Ford. The cringe is strong with this one.

@rushiosan: In the sense that they're two actors who played famous characters in extremely popular movies that helped shape pop culture.

I'm glad Daniel Radcliffe is considering taking on that role again since he was so identified with the Potter character I thought he may be glad to be free of Potter role now. Harrison Ford appears to have changed his mind. Which opens up the possible storyline that one of Potters kids could betray him if J K Rowling went down that route.

Good for him. By taking a stand, he helps ensure the quality of the Harry Potter franchise - should it continue at some point.

@JRLennis: they could always erase HP from the movie. That actually happens alot among all tv/cinema industries. An actor can'T do much to guarantee a movie's quality.

They probably eventually came to the conclusion that they no longer think they were as great as they did back when they watched them.

Radcliffe seems to have banked his Potter millions and has the freedom to do only projects that interest him. I can't think of a "paycheck" movie he's done since Potter ended. Gotta respect that.

@FordFairlane: It's not even that he hasn't had a 'paycheck' movie since them, it's that he hasn't even done standout role except for showing his pecker. He's Shia's soul mate.

I could pay to watch Harry Potter again, on this one condition -

J K distributes her undeserved wealth among the thousands and thousands of a lot more deserving, a lot more talented yet under-rated authors.

@Orontes13: undeserved how exactly? She wrote the hell out of each and every one of the books that earned her that wealth.

@haanabi89: The early books, when her characters were children, were exceptionally good, though quite full of cliches. The last few however, were contrived pretentious teenage melodrama written specifically with movies in mind, not much different from garbage like Twilight. No wonder Twilight inherited a large part of HP's readership.

Regardless, her writing, especially story-telling, is nowhere near as good as for her to deserve to be one of the richest authors in the world.

@Orontes13: Clearly we read different Harry Potter books. If you're equating Rowling's writing with that low-talent hack Meyer, I have to question whether you've actually read any of them.

@derekscorp: The literary quality (while not as great as many other authors') is of course infinitely superior that low-talent hack Meyer. But her ability to formulate stories involving teenage characters is not.

@Orontes13: That's pretty harsh, but I'll agree that Rowling was at her height with Goblet of Fire. That remains her masterpiece. Despite the later books not quite measuring up to that, her writing nevertheless fleshed out an intriguing world we really didn't want to leave.

@Orontes13:

You put a hyphen in underrated. Hopefully these "thousands and thousands of a lot more deserving, a lot more talented yet under-rated authors" who obviously have no marketing skills at least have better grammar.
