Daniel Craig features in one of the most popular, enduring memes that graces our timelines each week, but the actor himself had no idea that the "Ladies and gentlemen, the Weeknd" meme existed until recently.

In an interview with The New York Times, Craig was asked if the popularity of the "Ladies and gentlemen, the Weeknd" clip ever got back to him. It did not. In fact, he apparently did not know the meme existed until that very moment in the interview.

"There is a clip of you from that 'Saturday Night Live' you hosted, introducing the Weeknd with almost a sense of relief. People just like to post that clip as a way of ushering in the weekend," the reporter said.

Craig replied: "They do? It's amazing. I don't know what that is, but thank you. That's lovely. I suppose I'd have to have social media to know what that was all about."

Craig's newest film, No Time To Die, is in theaters now in the UK and other markets around the world. The movie, which is Craig's final run as James Bond, comes to the US on October 8.

There will inevitably be more Bond films in the future, but the producers of the series won't begin the search for the next person to play the role until 2022. Barbara Broccoli, who is one of the key stakeholders and decision-makers for the 007 series, has said Bond will never be played by a woman so long as she is in charge of the franchise.
