TOKYO--Konami today said its dancing game franchise, Dance Dance Revolution, recently tallied sales of 6.5 million units worldwide. Konami breaks out the stats as follows: 1.5 million copies sold in Europe, 1 million copies sold in the U.S., and 4 million units sold in Japan.

Hoping to squeeze additional sales out the popular franchise, Konami will release Dance Dance Revolution Party Collection for the PS2 on December 11 in Japan. The game will also be available in a beginner's bundle, which comes packaged with the Dance Dance Revolution game mat (in Japan).

Of course, the company isn’t resting on its laurels: it has recently released new DDR titles in the UK and the U.S., "Dancing Stage Fever" (PS2), "DDRMAX2 Dance Dance Revolution" (PS2), and "Dance Dance Revolution UltraMix" (Xbox).
