Daily Downloads: Free games galore!

Ubisoft releases four ad-supported older games, while EA gives away the original Command & Conquer.

Ubisoft has pulled four games out of its catalog to be released free of charge thanks to in-game advertising. Ghost Recon, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Rayman Raving Rabbids, and Far Cry are now gratis for residents of the US who have an Ubisoft account.

As part of the 12th anniversary celebration for the Command & Conquer franchise, EA has released the full version of Command & Conquer Gold completely free. This version is compatible with Windows XP, though it is not possible to play it online.

Also available on GameSpot today is the demo for Chromadrome 2, a new version of the BioShock SM 2.0 Fix Mod, and new patches for The Apocalyptic Game About Penguins and Tales of Pirates.

Western-looking character in a japanese looking world and armor... doesnt rly match eachother. If I look at these screenshots I just have the feeling that something isnt right about this. Never played it though, could still be a good game.

What is really wrong with them. When it finishes download it don't work. You try to install and corrupt files or what. When i click on the link they provide above it just sends me the the home menu of game spot is it suppose to do that.

Avatar image for maestro4202

they seriously better unlock the install, its not just bad that they didn't yank the file after labor day, but that most sites still don't seem to tell anyone about that little bit of info before they d/l it..way to waste bandwidth

Avatar image for hollywood6258

wow that is retarded all of that time i spent trying to download it correctly wasted wtf thats some bs dude

Avatar image for boughb2007

WTF...download a 2.68GB game and its only a 3 day promo thing....thanks ubi

Avatar image for Mystery16

For a little finality, here it is... Anyone now trying to install the full version of these games WILL NOT BE ABLE TO because the dicks at Ubisoft made it so that you could only install the full game LABOR DAY WEEKEND. So if you are now trying to download any of these games, don't waste your time, you're downloading gigabytes of nothing. It sucks, but life is like that sometimes.

Avatar image for peeweeshift

thats horrible of them. im canadian and i want some love too.

Avatar image for TurkishDelight8

What a bunch of crap. The A-holes tricked us!

Avatar image for jediknight52501

just found it it was a labor day promotion so the games are no longer free what a load of crap i wanted to play Ghost Recon and Prince Of Persia Sands Of Time and they pull this crap damn ubisoft you really know how to piss people off!!

Avatar image for jediknight52501

ok for those of you who can't get the game to work try this go to the registration page and fill out the first page it will ask you for your town and state put that in and then try to install the game this should work!!!

Avatar image for Sirian808

Unfortunately, I can answer everyone's "Why isn't the free game working?" questions. The Ubisoft games were only free to play over Labor Day weekend. I was really bummed when I found out...I spent literally 48 hours downloading it only to find out it doesn't work anymore.

Avatar image for jediknight52501

i am also having the same problem it says must live in the u.s what gives it would be nice if someone explained the whole thing to us so we know what to do i mean come one all i want to do is play the game!! i had the same problem with Prince Of Persia:Sands Of Time as well!!!

Avatar image for TINMANS13

I have the same problem with the not in us thing any one know or heard of the reason or solution to this

Avatar image for illinoissooner

I already own the free Command & Conquer game from EA but these Ubisoft games look good. Hopefully I won't have the same "not in US" problem that some others are having. Free gaming == good!!! Time to give Far Cry a try.

Avatar image for TurkishDelight8

Yeah wtf, I'm from the US and i checked the box that i'm from the US when i signed up on UBI. Stupid setup tells me that "Sorry, you must be in the US to play this title"... Are you serious? Can anyone explain?

Avatar image for HiroArka

I can't even instal these games .. I am from the US, but it refuses to except that I am .. Anyone had this same problem

And in the future, games that might be dev by the production companies(nVidia, ATI, Asus, MSI, XFX, Crucial, Corsair, etc) will have free games with in-game ads.

Avatar image for infect999

i downloaded the free version of Far Cry about a week ago...the McDonald's ads are kind of annoying, but they don't interfere with the gameplay at all, so its worth it.

Avatar image for rockstar_88

Well, if this is what happens when we have in-game advertising, than I'm all for it. Cheaper games = more games!

Avatar image for morpheusnj

how long did it take you guys to dl any of these games? its taking me quite a while but I just clicked the dl button. =P

Avatar image for Goliathvv

Well, it's for free right? So, no complaints!

crunchb3rry, just to let you know, Far cry on Pc is completely different than the 360 or xbox version, shame I don't have a gaming PC to play these on, but hey its all Good, this should be happening more often

Avatar image for jakeboudville

I already played all the free games here..good of them to do it though

Avatar image for uberjannie

Not even a small credit for giving gamespot all the info on the new games. I wrote it in my blog 3 september.

Avatar image for Reetesh

WoW so many free games! I am bookmarking this page :P

Avatar image for Conor_220

Well yeah thanks EA for giving us an online game that can't be played online! Thankyou ubisoft.

Avatar image for punksta99

for ubisoft's free games i mean

Avatar image for punksta99

Hmmm looks like they made all logins inactive... anybody else have this problem? I looked at fileplanet and I gathered that they won't let anyone else register this game...

Avatar image for crunchb3rry

EA gives us dinky C&C, Ubisoft gives us Far Cry and Sands of Time. Burn! Another reason why I pray daily that EA doesn't buy out Ubisoft as they intend to. Only problem is I'm halfway through Far Cry on the 360 (just fired it up yesterday after a long break) and as much as the PC version has vastly superior controls, I don't think I can wade through that much of the game again. And I beat Sands of Time three times. But this is a pair of games that everybody who hasn't played definitely owes it to themselves to play. Especially PoP.

Avatar image for shrink45

Ahahahaha, no ads for me, baby! Thank you oh so much, Mr. Firewall!!!

Avatar image for toto123_1

Too old.

Avatar image for soundofspeet

3 of those 4 Ubisoft games are appealing. The EA release I got earlier this week.

Avatar image for lamprey263

I'm not going to download anything but that's still pretty cool

Avatar image for Mehfuz

Avatar image for Rob_101
