Sony's Universal Media Disc format hasn't taken off as a format of choice for movies on the go, and the PlayStation Portable-exclusive format is becoming increasingly optional for games on the go as well. The latest evidence of that came this week as D3Publisher announced its plans to release a selection of its PSP catalog for download over the PlayStation Store later this month.

In North America, D3 is breaking the titles up between two price points. For $14.99 apiece, PSP gamers will be able to download the company's breakthrough hit Puzzle Quest Challenge of the Warlords, the comic-horror actioner Dead Head Fred, and PQ2: Practical Intelligence Quotient 2. At the $9.99 point, gamers can download older or less prominent titles like the puzzler Cube, minigame collection WTF: Work Time Fun, and the original PQ: Practical Intelligence Quotient.

European gamers will receive a slightly different selection of titles. D3 will be offering Puzzle Quest, Cube, Dead Head Fred, and Practical IQ (the European edition of PQ2), but gone are the original PQ and WTF. In their place, Old World gamers will get the Arkanoid-style Beta Bloc and the self-explanatory Super Pocket Tennis. Release dates and price points for the European games were not announced, but they are expected to be available beginning this month.

Release dates for the North American games are as follows:

September 18
Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords
Cube

October 2
WTF: Work Time Fun
PQ: Practical Intelligence Quotient

October 16
PQ2: Practical Intelligence Quotient 2
Dead Head Fred
