Following rumors of multiple Cyberpunk projects in development, CD Projekt Red has issued a statement. A Polish news source appeared to suggest multiple Cyberpunk games are in development, prompting a reply from CDPR regarding how it has split development of Cyberpunk 2077 among multiple studios.

A report in the Polish site Bankier appeared to state that the studio is working on three Cyberpunk projects--2077 which we know about, along with another AAA game and a multiplayer game. GameSpot reached out to CD Projekt Red and received a statement that it has three separate studios working on Cyberpunk 2077.

"We currently have a total of five teams working on a number of projects, with three focusing on the development of Cyberpunk 2077," a company representative told GameSpot. "These include CD Projekt Red Warsaw and Kraków, who are handling the main game, as well as the Wrocław studio, where around 40 industry specialists are engaged in technology R&D. A separate, dedicated team at the Warsaw studio is handling the development of Gwent. The final team is Spokko, which is currently working on a yet unannounced mobile project."

CDPR's public roadmap does say the studio is planning both Cyberpunk and another AAA RPG by the year 2021, though it doesn't specifically say this is a Cyberpunk title, as rumors have suggested. That title and the unannounced mobile game from Spokko are still unknown. The roadmap also mentions it will be expanding its franchises with "additional media content and product lines," though that phrasing sounds more like cross-media content than additional games. At least at one point Cyberpunk did have a planned multiplayer mode, and the statement from CDPR didn't explicitly deny the rumors.

Cyberpunk 2077 is scheduled to release April 16, 2020 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
