Cyan Splits Down the Middle

Is this the end of the line for the creative team behind top-sellers Myst and Riven?

Comments

Unconfirmed reports on the Web indicate that Cyan Inc., the creative team behind Broderbund-published Riven, currently the top-selling PC game on the market, and Bb-published Myst, the top-selling computer game of all time, has lost two of its key partners.

While at press time Cyan's publisher Broderbund had not returned numerous calls, GameSpot News was told by a source close to Broderbund that its public relations team was planning to announce the Cyan split either Monday night or Tuesday morning.

Reportedly, Robyn Miller and Richard Vander Wende - both formerly of Cyan - have left the company and plan to start their own game development companies.

It was brothers Robyn and Rand Miller who created the gaming sensation Myst some five years ago. According to recently released PC Data statistics, Myst and Riven were the one and two top-selling PC titles of 1997.

GameSpot News will bring you additional Cyan news as it becomes available.
