3 million and counting.

Cuphead, the gorgeous and difficult Xbox One and PC indie game, has reached an impressive new sales milestone. StudioMDHR's game has now sold 3 million copies. This is up from 2 million as of December 2017 and 1 million after its first two weeks back in September.

"It's hard for us to express just how appreciative we are to everyone who has played and enjoyed our niche little run & gun game with the wacky rubber-hose characters," the developer said in a blog post (via Gamasutra).

A sales breakdown between Xbox One and PC was not provided. StudioMDHR made the game with support from Microsoft, which is why the game is never coming to PS4.

Cuphead is presumably profitable, as StudioMDHR said last year that the game reaching 2 million sales exceeded the studio's wildest expectations. "We are continuously humbled by your support," the developer said.

Cuphead's first expansion, The Delicious Last Course, includes a new playable character, Ms. Chalice, as well as more weapons. It also adds new bosses. The expansion is set to launch in Spring 2019, but intriguingly, StudioMDHR said in its blog post that it has "a couple little tricks up our sleeve" for before the end of 2018.
