Microsoft has announced that Crimson Skies has gone gold and will be in retail stores by the end of September. The action-adventure game features air combat in the style of a classic Hollywood adventure movie. Set in an alternate-reality 1937, the game puts players in the role of the daring air pirate Nathan Zachary, who must fight for control of the skies against evil privateers, fighter planes, and giant zeppelins. Linked below we have a new two-minute Crimson Skies trailer that shows off the 1930s style of the game.

Microsoft also announced that those who preorder the game at retail stores or online at EBWorld or Gamestop will receive either a mini-strategy guide or the Crimson Skies "spicy air tales" novella. This offer is valid for a limited time only.

In addition to a series of spotlights on the characters and aircraft featured in the game, Microsoft's Zone.com is hosting a six-part serial radio drama about the history of Nathan Zachary and his companions. A new episode will debut every Friday through October 5.
