Crave Clarifies

More information about Crave's plans for expansion comes to the forefront.

Comments

From a release issued to the gaming press on Wednesday, Crave Entertainment has completely pulled out of game development to refocus its energies on external development. As GameSpot News stated yesterday, the company will base its operations in Los Angeles and is currently looking for a larger location to accommodate its expanding sales staff, production staff, and a new director of technology position.

Incorrectly stated in yesterday's release was the fact that Lobotomy and Craveyard teams would be merged into one group. Sources tell GameSpot News that the two teams (both based in the Seattle area) have been liquidated and only a handful of persons from those teams were given the option to relocate to the LA area. Those same sources also say that 15 - 20 developers and programmers were let go in the recent consolidation that occurred on May 21. Before those facilities close, the company will have those teams complete a PAL version of Shadow Madness for the European PlayStation market.

Crave says in the recent official release that "several Seattle-based Crave employees may relocate to the Los Angeles facility." "We are dedicated to publishing the best quality product for upcoming next-generation platforms. As part of this commitment, we've decided to focus exclusively on three initiatives," said Holly Newman, Crave's executive vice president of publishing. "We are directing our efforts toward supporting our external studios, expanding our distribution model, and expanding our management team to prepare the company for a wave of next generation console and PC games."
