Nokia and Vivendi Universal Games have today announced that an N-Gage version of Crash Nitro Kart is currently in development and is scheduled to arrive in stores during the second quarter of this year. The 3D kart racing game, which stars Crash Bandicoot and a number of other playable characters, will be Bluetooth enabled so that up to four players can race simultaneously.

"We are thrilled to be working with Vivendi Universal Games to evolve this incredibly popular franchise," said Pasi Pölönen, director of game publishing for the games business unit at Nokia. "Fans of Crash Bandicoot will fall in love all over again with the features and performance that the N-Gage platform enables."

"Crash Bandicoot is a hugely popular global franchise that lends itself to compelling gameplay on handheld platforms," said Luc Vanhal, VU Games president and COO, North America. "We view Nokia as one of the leading global manufacturers of wireless handsets, and the opportunity to introduce the Crash franchise to the N-Gage audience is an exciting one."

In addition to racing, the N-Gage version of Crash Nitro Kart will feature a battle mode and a number of unlockable extras including levels and characters. We'll bring you more information as soon as it becomes available.
