Now Playing: Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy - Release Date Announcement Trailer

If you're hoping to play the upcoming Crash Bandicoot trilogy remaster but don't own a PS4, you may not be completely out of luck.

To date, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy has only been announced for PS4, where it launches on June 30. The PlayStation Ireland Twitter account recently replied to a tweet and stated it will be exclusive to PS4. That tweet (captured in an image on NeoGAF) has since been deleted, with a new message correcting what it originally claimed.

"To clarify our earlier post, it will be coming to PlayStation 4 and PS4 Pro first," the new tweet reads. It hasn't clarified this any further, but it sounds as if N. Sane Trilogy is a timed exclusive and, as such, could eventually launch on other platforms.

We've followed up with publisher Activision to confirm if this is the case. We'll report back with any details we receive.

N. Sane Trilogy is a remastered version of the first three Crash games, Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and Crash Bandicoot: Warped. Those games were developed by Naughty Dog, but it's Vicarious Visions that's handling the remaster.

Crash is generally associated with the PlayStation family of systems; the three in this trilogy were published by Sony and only ever released on PS1. Later games and spinoffs in the series were also released on non-Sony platforms once publishing rights shifted to companies like Vivendi, Sierra, and Activision.

It smells like Switch. Nintendo can't resist not getting gheir hands on a nostalgia-driven franchise.

@jcnba28: You sound like a defensive whiner lmao. I wasn't saying I'm against it being multiplat, was just saying that if it is multiplat, Switch probably went for it cause it seems right up their alley.

@livedreamplay: You said "Nintendo can't resist not getting their hands on a nostalgia-driven franchise." These games were not on a Nintendo console before so how would that be nostalgia for Nintendo fans?

@jcnba28: Do your research, kid! Past Crash games have been released Nintendo systems. I love it when someone comes on here and tries to bash someone when they don't even have their own facts straight! It's hilarious!

@ecdt1089: Hey kid Crash Bandicoot The Wrath Of Cortex and Crash Team Racing were the only Crash games released on Gamecube. So yes, I do know my shit.

@jcnba28: Yeah no you don't. Crash TAG TEAM Racing and Crash Nitro Kart were released on GameCube. Crash Team Racing was on the PS1.And also, there were several Nintendo handheld exclusive Crash games. Oh and let's not forget, Crash of the Titans and Mind Over Mutant on Wii . So again, know your shit before commenting.....

@ecdt1089: Are you seriously that thick? I wasn't talking about kart racing games. The Trilogy on PS4 comes with the first 3 crash games, NOT the crashing racing games. Understand what others are talking about before you join in the conversation idiot. The first 3 crash games were released on PS1 not Gamecube. Stay in school kid.

@jcnba28: that is incorrect there has been crash games on the Nintendo GameCube you should check your facts before posting a dumb comment

@jcnba28: It's not going to be nostalgia for Nintendo fans. Just said that the game is nostalgia-driven, much like most of Nintendo's big games... :/

@jcnba28: crash 3 was on the Nintendo GameCube. I know because I'm old and still own it for Xbox and gamecube.

@neoistheone: Seriously, people forget Sony no longer holds the rights to Crash.

it makes sense from the money point of view. Why settle for 20 bucks when you can double that and make 40 bucks?

The Crash games were Mario and Sonic wannabe shite. Mario, Sonic and Banjo for that matter are much better games IMHO.

Surprised to hear that Naughty Dog made Crash Bandicoot. Come to think of it it's not that surprising considering the average gameplay in Naughty Dog games. Great looking games don't get me wrong but the actual gameplay in their titles is nothing earth shattering.

GAMEPLAY before anything else.

@gamerbum: On Xbox article, you were just bashing Uncharted 4 and TLOU for generic gameplay and how Gears revolutionized 3rd person genre, and now this? It must be hard for you that Naughty Dog exists.

@drprophecy:

It's just my opinion and actually I wish ND would put the same effort into gameplay as they do for cinematics, voice acting, graphics etc etc in their games. If they did that then perhaps we could legitimately call one of their games a bonifide masterpiece.

@gamerbum: Well Crash was the actual 3D version of early Mario games. Actually fast paced precise platforming. Rayman, 3d-Mario, Banjo, Sonic, Spyro were all slow-paced explore big world yawnfests. Sure if you gasped at those huge worlds and didn't care about the retirement home -level gameplay then sure it's ok opinion.

Lol is that what you think of Mario 64 and Banjo is it? Go find some old reviews for those games and have a rethink lmao.

@7tizz: I recently replayed Crash Bandicoot 1 on my ps3 and still enjoyed it...obviously not as much as I did back when I was 12/13 years old but still a pretty good platformer.

Avatar image for deactivated-5afeea4d8be41

@7tizz: I did play them as a kid and I replayed them on my PS3 recently and they hold up very very well actually. They hold up a lot better than Banjo Kazooie.

@7tizz: I played the Crash games when I was 11 years old. I am now 29 and I still finish the games at least once a year and I still enjoy them tons.

I'm gonna have a blast with this.

@jZangetsu21: It's funny how much of a difference 3 years makes. I played the Crash games at 14, they were ok for me. The game I replay almost yearly is Super Mario World on SNES. I don't know what it is about it, but it's got to be my favorite game of all time.

If this trilogy launches on X1, I will definitely get it though.

Avatar image for jZangetsu21

@jonnyhollywood: I won't argue with Super Mario World, great game. I still get this urge for old games every now and again. I'll take a week or two where I just play NES and SNES games, sometimes I'll throw in a few Genesis games too :P

@7tizz: lol, what a bunch of bs.. gars are most certainly not

More "sophisticated" these days, if anything they are uninspired and derivative...

Avatar image for Tiwill44

@7tizz: Crash 2 is a legit great game though, and I played it for the first time less than 3 years ago. The first one was also pretty good. The third one had too many gimmicks so I lost interest.

But I really don't like the way this remaster looks, it reminds me of a cheap Unity game. The new art style has no charm and there's no atmosphere to it. It looks washed out.

This could be good. More players buying this will show them how high the interest in Crash really is.

Just hope Acti doesn't f*ck it up.

Insane. I've just realised this is all THREE of the old games. Was thinking initially it was just the first. Instant purchase for me

Avatar image for deactivated-5afeea4d8be41

@nabinator: Crash Bandicoot 3 is the best, I am literally salivating to replay these games with revamped controls, in widescreen and with updated visuals.

@overachiever89: Fair enough. There is soo much good music out there. Just like in the past you have to find it. You won't hear it on the radio or on tv,but only at small shows. Unless it's Tupac I won't listen to anything that has ever been on the radio. I just don't like that junk that's all, nothing against the radio.

Dropped my pre-order and will wait either for a used copy or get it for $15 CDN next year.

Avatar image for CyberEarth

@MAXTHUNDER99: Next year? It'll probably be $15 before summer is out. More than likely, it will be released on PC as well, and platforms like Steam LOVE to give away discounts.

Avatar image for MAXTHUNDER99

@CyberEarth: I like to buy physical copies. I'll probably find it used within the first week for $10. I very rarely pre-order games unless they have trade in deals that make it worth it. Just picked up Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands for 5 bucks pad in full for the PS4.

Lol, would be funny if it released on the Vita and not on PC/Xbone/Switch. Would be nice if it did release on each one of those platforms - everyone deserves to play Crash Bandicoot.

Avatar image for drprophecy

@Gbullet: It would be funny, but after COD Declassified, I don't think Activision will release anything on the Vita.
