VU Games today announced that it will be publishing Crash Tag Team Racing on the PSP. The game was previously announced for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, and DS. The PSP version will be handled by Radical Entertainment, which was acquired by VU earlier this year. Radical is currently working on Scarface: The World Is Yours and The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction.

Like the other versions, Crash Tag Team Racing for the PSP is a combat racer with some on-foot exploration. The wily marsupial and his pals get roped into a devious plan concocted by Crash's nefarious nemesis, Dr. Neo Cortex. Under the false pretense that he's racing in a friendly competition, Crash never suspects Cortex's real plan, which is to crush him under a decrepit racetrack.

.

On the tracks, gamers will be able to meld cars together to form a sort of "supercar," with one character behind the wheel and one at the helm of a 360-degree rotating turret that's unique to each character. Outside of the car, players can explore the environment and find various upgrades and unlockables.

The PSP version will feature wireless support for multiplayer modes. A cooperative mode lets two racers join forces and compete against other players, and a competitive mode gives players the option to go head-to-head.

Crash Tag Team Racing will have an SRP of $39.99. For more information on the game, check out GameSpot's video interview with Radical's Joel De Young.
