Cossacks II delayed to 2005

CDV declares that the lengthy development of its strategy game sequel will be complete in 2005; demo due this year.

Comments

German publisher CDV Software has delayed the release of Cossacks II: Napoleonic Wars from this year to the first half of 2005. The PC strategy game is the sequel to 2001's Cossacks and was originally announced in April 2002. No reason was given for the delay.

Like its subtitle suggests, Cossacks II is a real-time strategy game set in historical Europe at the turn of the 19th century. Players will be able to wage battles with up to 64,000 units at one time, and a special physics engine will be able to accurately calculate projectile trajectories. Online multiplayer action will also be included with several different game modes.

Not all of today's news is bad for those awaiting Cossacks II, because CDV did announce that it will release a demo for the game by the end of the year. See GameSpot's preview for more on the game.
