A&E's controversial reality TV show Duck Dynasty is coming to an end.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network announced this week that the unscripted series will end after its current 11th season wraps up in April 2017. Though that will be the end of the core show, Duck Dynasty holiday specials are said to come after.

A&E claims that Duck Dynasty is the most-watched nonfiction series in the history of cable TV. It continues to be the network's top show in terms of total viewers.

"After five years, we've decided as a family for this to be the final chapter of the Duck Dynasty series," star Willie Robertson said in a message during the Season 11 premiere on Wednesday night.

Duck Dynasty found itself in hot water in 2013 when patriarch Phil Robertson made controversial comments about gay people in a media interview. A&E initially suspended Robertson for what he said, but reinstated him just nine days later.

Activision released a Duck Dynasty game in 2013. The main hook is that you can "become a Robertson" through activities like fishing, airboat racing, and of course, duck hunting.
