Comic-Con 2018: Legacies --The New Vampire Diaries Spinoff Gets Trailer

A witch, a wolf, and a vampire in one person. What could possibly go wrong?

If The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, or the whole franchise is your guilty pleasure, you'll be excited to know that the CW is launching yet another spinoff based on the events of both shows called Legacies. The trailer recently premiered at Comic-Con.

If you recall, The Originals started off because Klaus, one of the original vampires who was a vampire/werewolf hybrid, got a girl pregnant. This meant that the kid would be born a vampire, a werewolf, and the grandchild of one of the most powerful witches who ever lived.

Now, that child is a teenager, and she has little control over her many powers, so she is heading off to the Salvatore academy (as in the Salvatore brothers from The Vampire Diaries), which helps supernatural teens get their powers, and their urges, under control. The academy is lead by Alaric Saltzman, a teacher who was a recurring character on The Vampire Diaries and managed to stay human.

The trailer gives a pretty good look at the story the show will follow. The characters get involved with the locals and use their abilities, not always in a good way. The trailer also features the same voice-over style that was used for the other two shows, which is a nice way to give it a sense of continuity. Legacies will premiere October 25 on the CW.
