Cold War E3 2004 Impressions
This third-person real-time strategy game will pit a Western journalist against the Communist system.
DreamCatcher is showing Cold War, a newly announced third-person real-time strategy game, at E3. As the name suggests, the game is set in the days of the superpower Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union.
Youll play as a Western journalist visiting the Soviet Union when you find yourself arrested, stripped of all your possessions, beaten, and thrown into the KGBs political prison. Youll have to escape, and then evade capture as you attempt to determine the international conspiracy that youve found yourself caught in.
The game will be set in real-world locales, including the destroyed Chernobyl nuclear power plant, the Mausoleum (though its not clear whether they mean Lenins Mausoleum or the mausoleum that encases the destroyed nuclear reactor), and the infamous Ljubljanka prison.
Cold War will combine stealth espionage gameplay with action elements--youll have to create weapons and traps in order to defeat your pursuers. The gadgets will include an X-ray camera. The game should ship this winter for the PC, and DreamCatcher plans to publish an Xbox version next year.
