Codemasters Axes Several Projects

Navy SEALs is among the games to get cut from Codemasters' lineup.

Comments

Several published reports this afternoon indicated that Codemasters USA, which is composed of many ex-Sierra employees from Sierra Studios' Yosemite division, has stopped development on all of its non-multiplayer games. One of the most anticipated games to fall by the wayside is Navy SEALs, a game whose rights were bought by Codemasters after Sierra made the decision to cancel development earlier last year.

At press time, Codemasters officials couldn't comment on the cutbacks. There were rumors that Codemasters USA was close to picking up the abandoned Bablyon 5 space sim, but with this recent development, that possibility seems highly unlikely. Codemasters USA, which bases its development studio in Oakhurst, California, will still continue work on The Realm, its online-only game.
