CoD: Warzone 2 Season 2 Roadmap Details Ashika Island Map, DMZ Wipe, New Features, And More

Here's what to expect from the big Season 2 update for battle royale and DMZ.

Comments

A new season of Call of Duty arrives on February 15, and Activision has revealed the roadmap for Season 2. The new Warzone 2 content will include a brand-new battle pass, more operators, the Ashika Island map, and more. Here we break down all the major announcements of Season 2 in Warzone 2.

New weapons and operator

In terms of new content, Season 2 will introduce five weapons to the game. The ISO Hemlock assault rifle, KV Broadside shotgun, and Dual Kodachis melee weapon will be included in the free tiers of battle pass, while the crossbow and Tempus Torrent marksman rifle will be available for unlock through in-game challenges. The Ronin operator from Modern Warfare 2019 also returns as the battle pass operator for the season.

Path of the Ronin seasonal event

The launch of Season 2 will include the Path of the Ronin event, which works similar to past seasonal events for Call of Duty. The event will include seven challenges to be completed in Warzone 2 or Modern Warfare 2. The challenges are themed around the Seven Virtues of Bushido: Integrity, Respect, Courage, Honor, Compassion, Sincerity, and Loyalty. Each challenge comes with a reward for completion, such as a gun screen or weapon charm.

Completing all seven challenges for the Path of the Ronin will unlock Season 2's Crossbow weapon.

Battle royale

Season 2 will add the new Ashika Island map. The Japanese-themed island is a smaller, secondary map designed for Warzone 2's Resurgence respawn modes and DMZ. The roadmap details reveal that Ashika Island can be played as solos, duos, trios, and quads for Resurgence mode, and the island will include the new map-exclusive Restore Honor feature.

With Restore Honor, every player will drop a dog tag upon death once per match, which can either be picked up by a squadmate or themselves after redeploying. Grabbing the tag grants a small cash reward, as well as a single UAV ping that marks both enemy threats and nearby supply boxes.

Ashika Island will also include Redeploy Drones, which work similarly to the Redeploy Balloons introduced to Caldera in Warzone 1. These drones let players zip up into the sky and reposition themselves on the map.

Additionally, Ashika Island will include all of the contract types found in standard battle royale, but the map will include a new contract type that's exclusive to the island map. Search and Seizure is a contract that involves reclaiming a stolen vehicle from Shadow Company forces somewhere on the island.

The island also comes with a map-exclusive public event called Data Heist. The Data Heist happens during the second circle collapse, activating three uplink stations around the map, allowing players to download critical intel from them. In exchange for in-match rewards, players can hack into and stand near the uplink station to gain this intel, but they'll need to fight off AI enemy attacks.

As previously announced, Season 2 of Warzone 2 will include the return of the 1v1 Gulag. Players can also expect major changes with an overhaul to the looting, inventory systems, and cash economy.

DMZ mode

Season 2 is set to bring a fresh start for DMZ players, as a seasonal wipe will include a reset of everyone's current Faction mission tier progress, removal of all Contraband weapons and keys from player inventory, and introduce brand-new Faction missions.

In addition to Al Mazrah and Building 21, players will be able to choose the new Ashika Island map as their infil location for DMZ. The island will include the new Bombmaker boss encounter, which works similarly to Al Mazrah's Chemist, who carries a weapon case to extract for permanent cosmetic rewards. The weapon case rewards for Season 2 will remain the same for Al Mazrah, but players can earn new rewards for collecting the cases from Ashika Island.

A new Faction called the Crown will be joining in Season 2, but this new group of missions will be exclusive to those who own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Additionally, players can expect plenty of quality-of-life changes to be included in the big update.

Make sure to check out everything we know about Modern Warfare 2's Season 2 update, which includes the introduction of Hardcore mode and Ranked Play.
