What to expect from Season 3

A brand-new season of Call of Duty generally brings a new 100-tier battle pass to grind for new weapons and cosmetics. Seasonal passes usually contain at least one operator and two DLC weapons, and data miners are already finding possible hints for Season 3 in Modern Warfare 2's game files. While data mined info isn't a guarantee, it's very possible players could see the return of one of the most iconic sniper rifles of the Modern Warfare series--the Intervention--as it was among the weapons leaked. As for the battle pass operator, data miners leaked operator artwork and voice lines for Alejandro Vargas, Valeria Garza, and Alex Keller. It's uncertain who will be the battle pass operator, but one or more could become available in future store bundles or Raid rewards.

Additionally, the Season 3 update will likely include more game modes, maps, and additional weapon balancing and bug fixes for both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.

Warzone 2

So far, much of Warzone 2's Season 3 update is just speculation. Season 2 Reloaded didn't change much for the battle royale, so hopefully the upcoming update will make a bigger impact. The patch notes for Season 2 teased that Warzone 1's Plunder and a Ranked mode would arrive in "Season 3 and beyond," so it's possible one of those modes could show up next month.

Modern Warfare 2

While not 100% confirmed for the season, Gunfight was the first teaser on Infinity Ward's list for "Season 3 and beyond," so it's highly possible this will be added sometime in Season 3. The developer's patch notes also confirmed the mode will have new maps each season.

Originally introduced in Modern Warfare 2019, Gunfight was typically a 2v2 matchup played over a series of fast-paced rounds on small maps. However, there were 1v1 and 3v3 and a few other variants as well.

We can expect a brand-new Raid episode. These 3-player episodic Raids continue Modern Warfare 2's story with a mix of stealth, action, and puzzle-solving objectives. However, if following the timeframe of the past two episodes, Episode Three will likely be saved for the midseason update.

Most recently, Season 2 Reloaded added the Tempest Torrent marksman rifle, the Himmelmatt Expo 6v6 map for multiplayer, and the second Raid episode. Completing this new Raid unlocks Captain Price's "Bad Boonie" operator skin, and we have a full guide for Episode Two.
