CoD: Modern Warfare 2 - Season 4 Roadmap Details Seven Maps, Raid Finale, And More.

Here's everything announced for Season 4 Modern Warfare 2.

Comments

Activision has revealed the full roadmap for Season 4 of Modern Warfare 2, which launches on June 14. The new multiplayer content includes a brand-new battle pass, several new maps, a community event, and the finale of Modern Warfare 2's story-based Raids.

New weapons and operator

Season 4 will introduce four weapons to the game. The battle pass includes the Tempus Razorback assault rifle and the ISO 45 submachine gun, and both weapons are available to unlock in the free tiers.

Later in the season, Modern Warfare 2 will add the Tonfa melee weapon and a new shotgun, and both will be available to unlock either through in-game challenges or the purchase of a shop bundle.

The season also includes five additional operators, including the return of Nikto from Modern Warfare 2019. Nikto is the battle pass operator, while Ana Vega, Izanami, and Butch will be available in bundles. Another Blackcell premium battle pass is also being introduced, and the new operator included is called Io.

Assault on Vondel event

Season 4 is themed around Warzone 2's new Vondel map, and there will be an Assault on Vondel event running from June 14 until July 7. This is a new community event which lets players participate in challenges that will award medals for personal rewards as well as community unlock rewards. The community rewards will include Season 4's new Tonfa melee weapon.

More game mode variants

Previously, 10v10 was a limited-time game mode, but Infinity Ward announced on Twitter that 10v10 will remain and be added as an option in the quickplay menu for Season 4. Some of Modern Warfare 2's non-respawn modes will also get larger playlists. Season 4 will introduce 12v12 variants of Search and Destroy and the Prisoner Rescue modes. The standard 6v6 options will still be available, but there will be a featured playlist dedicated to these 12v12 modes.

Several maps are coming

Multiplayer will add six maps at launch. This includes the return of the Showdown map originally from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Kunstenaar is a new standard map, Mercado and Penthouse will be new Gunfight maps, and Al Mazrah's Mawizeh Marshlands and Ahkdar Village POIs will also become battle maps for Ground War modes.

Additionally, one more standard core map is planned for mid-season. Vondel Waterfront will be a map that features the floating houses on a waterfront setting.

Raid finale

While it was previously stated that Modern Warfare 2 would get a new Raid episode each season, Activision has announced that Season 4 will include the final episode. Activision says, "Prepare your trio for the exciting conclusion to the Raid series before [REDACTED]." While this will tie up the ongoing post-launch narrative for Modern Warfare 2, this tease might indicate a new event or Raid-like episode could arrive in the fifth and final season to announce what's to come with Call of Duty's new 2023 release.

New Ranked Play season rewards

A new season of Ranked Play arrives to Modern Warfare 2's competitive mode. In addition to the leaderboard refresh, players can also earn a new set of rewards for multiplayer.

Multiplayer Ranked Play Rewards

  • 5 Wins: Season 04 Competitor Weapon Sticker
  • 10 Wins: Pro Re-Issue Vaznev-9k Weapon Blueprint

  • 50 Wins: Lock it Down Large Weapon Decal
  • 75 Wins: MWII Ranked Play Season 04 Loading Screen
