Cobra Kai Season 3 Sends Daniel LaRusso Back To Japan

Sweep the leg!

On the heels of that heartbreaking Season 2 cliffhanger, the cast and producers of Cobra Kai came to San Diego Comic-Con to give some idea about what's in store for the show's future. When last we left the characters, Miguel (Xolo Maridueña) was in bad shape in a hospital after a karate riot broke out in his high school, leading to him falling over a balcony and landing spine-first on the railing of a staircase.

So what comes next? According to the show's producers, the students of Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do will be figuring out how to move forward as they reflect on what's become of the two dojos full of students. As for Miyagi-Do sensei Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), his moving forward will look a lot like revisiting his past. "We will see Daniel LaRusso return to Okinawa," executive producer John Hurwitz revealed.

Now Playing: Cobra Kai - Official Season 2 Teaser Trailer

Fans of the Karate Kid franchise will remember Daniel took his first trip to Okinawa, Japan in The Karate Kid II, in which a then-young Daniel traveled to the country with Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita). Hopefully this time he doesn't get stuck in a typhoon or a fight to the death. After all, he's got a family to think about back at home in the valley.

When it comes to the other characters on the show, there's not a lot to be known as Season 3 production hasn't started yet. However, Martin Kove does believe that Sensei Kreese will find some kind of redemption after ousting Johnny (William Zabka) as the head of Cobra Kai. "Coming up soon, I think there's a lot of redemption," he said. "I think there should be. But if there isn't, I think that'll be a really good dance."

As for what redemption looks like to Sensei Kreese, who has turned his back on his greatest student, that's anyone's guess. Given what we've seen of him so far on Cobra Kai, though, chances are he's not going to give up his devious ways without a fight.

Cobra Kai will return to YouTube in 2019.

Movie trailer narrator: “Daniel San learned the Spinning Drum Technique last time, over 20 year ago in Japan, and defeated the evil Chozen San.

But THIS time, he will return to learn Tatsumaki Senpukyaku and Shinku Tatsumaki Senpukyaku with Crane Kick Ultra Hyper Combo Finish!!! Who will be on the receiving end?!”

I tried to watch this, I was excited actually. I could not get past S1 E1. It was just not at all what I expected it was terribly over the top corny like high school musical with martial arts instead of singing and dancing....... the minute the entire school broke out into karate brawl I was done. Every body in the school knew karate, all of them, even the faculty. It was too much for me to stomach.

@craigtl: Yeah, not buying it. Cobra Kai isn't on Netflix. It's on youtube. And you have to pay to watch the episodes (which is suppose to change soon). And season 2 isn't available on platforms besides youtube. Not google play and not Amazon. As for being a Tarantino fan and watching everything backwards, that doesn't even make sense. And if you watch "everything backwards" why would you say S1 E1 in your first post ("I could not get past S1 E1.")?

Contradictions all through your posts.

@soyo: I know it sounds like I'm full of shit, but it's just complete confusion on my part.

1. The Tarantino comment was just a joke because alot of the stories in his movies are not told in chronological order. It was a humorous reply to being asked if I watched it backwards.

2. I use Netflix, prime video, basic youtube and I have youtube tv all on one console so I often say Netflix even when talking about one of the others. (Confusion)

3. As far as watching the show I honestly thought I queued it up from S1E1 until someone corrected me on here when I described what I saw when watching. Again I don't know how I would have started on S2E10 but I guess somehow I did. So i apologize if it seemed like i was trolling.... I'm just getting old and all this shit is running together on me I guess. (Confusion and aging)

@craigtl: It is a surprisingly good show and season 2 was better than 1. Yes, some teen drama to it, but less cheesy than the drama in The Walking Dead.

@craigtl: That was S2E10, not S1E1. Did you watch it backward?

@chrishayner: Im a huge Tarantino fan.... I watch everything backwards. Seriously, I dont know, it came up on the nextflix main menu so I told it to play.... started watching got to the scene with the kids fighting in school..... I tapped out. If it was S2 E10 I dont think I would have liked it from the beginning anyhow if thats where it was going. Just in my personal opinion anyway. Im not one of those people that bash someone for liking something I dont... it just was not for me.
