2K Games today announced that the Xbox version of Close Combat: First to Fight is also the first to stores. The game is also being released on the PC, but that edition won't be available until April 12. The shooter was developed by Destineer, whose last project was more field and less battlefield--the PC strategy game John Deere American Farmer.

Like Pandemic's Full Spectrum Warrior, Close Combat was created both to entertain gamers and to teach recruits about military tactics. The game was developed under the close supervision of the US Marines, specifically soldiers fresh from the conflict in Afghanistan.

Close Combat: First to Fight is a realistic first-person shooter set in Beirut in the near future. In the game, players will lead a four-man squad of Marines through urban environments, using realistic maneuvers to keep their troops out of body bags instead of playing as supersoldiers.

In addition to the single-player campaign mode, First to Fight offers a multiplayer mode that supports up to eight players online, via LAN, or over Xbox Live.

Close Combat: First to Fight is rated T for Teen and has an SRP of $39.99 for both the PC and Xbox. For more information on the game, check out GameSpot's previous coverage, including a recent final hands-on with the shooter.
