Disney Interactive and Lucasfilm have teamed up with GOG.com to bring several classic Star Wars games to the digital distribution platform.

The following games are available right now for the first time digitally, via GOG.com:

Other Star Wars games being made available on the platform include Star Wars Battlefront II, Star Wars: Dark Forces, and Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. All games have been optimized for playing on modern operating systems. More Lucasfilm games are scheduled for release on GOG.com "in the near future."

GOG.com turned six years old in September last year. For more on how the site evolved from a niche online platform for classic games and plans for the near future, check out our interview with managing director Guillaume Rambourg.

No joke, I actually lost my copy of Galactic Battlegrounds a few months ago and was pretty pissed about it. Looked everywhere for a replacement copy but couldn't find one. I had given up on ever putting together another Imperial campaign or leading a horde of Wookies again....

But now, holy crap! And at $6 plus the expansion I never got? No DRM? SOLD!

<< LINK REMOVED >> XWA is the best imo, especially if you use the upgrade mod. However they are all quite good as VoJtass has recommended.

<< LINK REMOVED >> XW vs. TF is multiplayer based game, XW, TF, XWA have extended single player mode. I recommend every one of them (you can start from XW or XWA).

Loved all those games. The last time I tried to play older games on my current set up I couldn't take how it looked. If they could update the graphics to tolerable levels it would be even better

Oh, I'm so gonna buy Dark Forces. Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight is one of my first and all time favorite games. I don't trust that Steam would make it run okay and I prefer my old games to be DRM free, like they were when they first got released.

However, what's the deal with Battlefront 1? I can't find it on Steam, only Battlefront 2 and now gog also does this. It seems like I would need to get it off ebay if I ever want to play it.

Do we have Disney to thank for this? I think Lucas has been sitting on a lot of stuff and letting it rot. I hope to high heaven that Disney can do for Star Wars what they did for Avengers. Make awesome movies, released on a timely schedule.

Capitalism has its dark side, but when a company buys the rights to something, it is nice to seem them 'do something' with the IP. Pulling in a few dollars on old games seems like a win-win as well.

I remember my computer was not good enough for Dark Forces. I think I had to turn off the ceilings and the floors or something silly to get it to run at a tolerable fps speed.

GOG > Steam. Not a big fan of digital distribution, but GOG is as good as it gets. DRM free with no strings attached is very nice indeed.

Oh wow, Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds. I used to LOVE that game, one of my favorite RTS titles growing up. Might have to go buy that one.

This is a misleading way to describe this news - they have ADDED the above games to the classic LucasArts titles they already added last year. Be sure to also check out SW: X-Wing and SW: Tie Fighter - two of the best experiences of my PC-gaming youth

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> Yes it was very disappointing for X-Wing fans but it did great on consoles because there wasnt much like it on console platforms. Weather it bombed or not though is beside the point here.

I like that GOG has become such a driving force in the world of PC gaming, we need more DRM-free distributors!

<< LINK REMOVED >> I like that they actually put the work to ensure this stuff actually works on modern PC's, instead of just throwing it on their service like Steam.

Love Good Old Games. No DRM, I own the product, and you usually get a ton of extras.
