Civilization 6 is getting even bigger. The latest in Firaxis' 4X strategy game is getting a new season pass that will deliver content every two months for the next year. The New Frontier Pass will add eight new civilizations, nine leaders, and six game modes for $40. And the first piece of it will drop very soon, on May 21.

The first release will be the Maya & Gran Colombia Pack. That will include the leaders, buildings, and units from those new civilizations, along with new City-States, Resources, and Natural Wonders. Plus it will add a new Apocalypse game mode.

The New Frontier Pass will be available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, with a mobile version coming later. The six DLC packs will be available individually, but buying the full season pass will also net you a "Rough Rider Teddy" persona for Teddy Roosevelt, who's great at keeping the peace on his home continent; and a "Magnificence Catherine" persona for Catherine De Medici, who can use Luxuries to flood the world with culture. Each Persona Pack includes a new leader model and background and an updated leader agenda. Those bonuses will come with the release of the second DLC in July.

The July update is called the Ethiopia Pack, and it will introduce a new civ and leader along with a new "Secret Societies" game mode. That was outlined in a content roadmap from Firaxis, which shows a basic outline of new content and target dates through March 2021.

Free updates will also be coming in-between the DLC updates, which will offer new maps and scenarios along with balance updates.

"We're very excited to be adding even more content to Civilization VI, ensuring longtime players and franchise newcomers have something fresh to look forward to in the months to come," added said lead game designer Anton Strenger, in the announcement. "By delivering new content on a regularly scheduled basis, we'll have more opportunities than ever with the New Frontier Pass to connect with our community as we actively develop and deliver content."
