Christopher Nolan Understands Actors Have To Pee But Doesn't Like Bathroom Breaks On Set, RDJ Says

People are once again discussing director Christopher Nolan's attitude about bathroom breaks during filming. After Oppenheimer star Cilian Murphy said Nolan is "not sympathetic" to bathroom breaks, another star from the film, Robert Downey Jr., has shared his own perspective.

Speaking to Vanity Fair (via Complex), Downey Jr. said plainly that Nolan "doesn't even really like it when you go to the bathroom, but he understands you have to."

Given this information, Downey Jr. said he asked Nolan about his own personal bathroom habits. Nolan apparently told him that he uses the facilities twice a day during filming, at 11 AM and 6 PM.

"And I was like, 'Are you f**king with me?'" Downey Jr. said.

Surely, Nolan would use the bathroom outside of his designated times if he needed to, or at least we hope he would. Given that multiple actors who have worked with Nolan have commented on his attitude toward bathroom breaks, it does seem like the director is strict about them.

Following a hugely successful run in theaters where it earned more than $950 million worldwide, Oppenheimer will come to Peacock on February 16. You can pause the movie whenever you'd like to use the bathroom when watching the film at home.

Oppenheimer stars Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer, the physicist who led the team responsible for creating the first atomic bomb that the US would later drop on Hiroshima and Nagasaki Japan as part of World War II. The cast also includes Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Kenneth Branagh, and Downey Jr.
