According to a new report, the long-in-development movie based on Naughty Dog's Uncharted series is moving forward, though without Guardians of the Galaxy and Parks and Recreation actor Chris Pratt, who reportedly passed on the opportunity to portray series hero Nathan Drake in the forthcoming film.

The details come from The Hollywood Reporter. The Hollywood news publication says an offer was made to Pratt, who is also starring in 2015's Jurassic World, but he passed for reasons unknown. When director David O. Russell was attached to the project, Mark Wahlberg was eyed for the role before later dropping out.

In more positive news about the Uncharted movie, The Hollywood Reporter says Mark Boal, who won an Oscar for The Hurt Locker, has come aboard to work on the screenplay. The movie is now going to be directed by Horrible Bosses and Identity Thief director Seth Gordon.

Boal's attachment to the Uncharted movie might seem a little odd, given he's a former journalist best known for his hard-hitting stories featured in The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty. However, The Hollywood Reporter notes that he's rumored to be a big fan of the Uncharted series.

On the subject of what he's looking for from an actor to play Drake, Gordon outlined his wishes earlier this year.

"I want it to be a great actor," he said in July. "That's number one, and then if it's someone who has an actual jaw, that's even better. The game is so well done that you need it to live up to that. There's no way we'd do the inverse of that where it's somebody famous who can't [act]."

Even though he's older I still think Nathan Fillion is the best bet, with good make up, and a little working out I think he could still pull off a decent Drake and he certainly has the acting and mannerisms down to a T for the role.

@verstadt I heard he was an inspiration for the character. Still, though, I feel that his age is a problem. Drake is a younger guy. Early to mid 30s, I gather? Fillion is not.
