Netflix's live-action Resident Evil will focus on the Wesker family and a world ravaged by a strain of the T-Virus.

Netflix's upcoming live-action Resident Evil series is a departure from the source material in the video games. While it will adapt the general idea of what happens in Racoon City and the T-Virus, it follows a different set of protagonists: the Wesker family, made up of none other than Albert and his two daughters, Jade and Billie. The new series arrives on the streaming service on July 14, and Netflix has released two teasers for the upcoming show.

Check out the show's first teaser to get a better idea of what, exactly, is instore for all three of them across the first season's eight episodes.

Netflix's official description for the series reads: "Year 2036--14 years after a deadly virus caused a global apocalypse, Jade Wesker fights for survival in a world overrun by the blood-thirsty infected and insane creatures. In this absolute carnage, Jade is haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, by her father’s chilling connections to the Umbrella Corporation but mostly by what happened to her sister, Billie."

The second teaser has a bit more of a light-hearted feel, thanks to the music, even though death and destruction are around every corner--along with a giant caterpillar-like monster. Check it out.

Showrunner Andrew Dabb explained to a group of journalists at the Netflix office in Hollywood that, while the show will not be directly adapting any of the games, it does exist within the established timeline and canon of the games. This means that, yes, Albert Wesker did die in this universe back in 2009 via rocket launcher and volcano, and, no, he didn't magically survive thanks to some sort of volcano-and-rocket proof body armor. Dabb went on to tease that who this Wesker is, who his daughters are, and how any of them exist in the first place is one of the core mysteries of the show.

While the teaser is unsurprisingly pretty vague in terms of details and plot moments, keep an eye out for some stealthy Easter eggs and some functioning QR codes that might be worth checking out on your phone.

Resident Evil will debut on Netflix on July 14.
