Digital Jesters today announced that it has acquired the UK publishing rights to the fantasy sports game Chaos League. Currently in development at France-based Cyanide, the brutal sports title will see teams of nine players--who are controlled using a real-time strategy-style interface--attempting to get a ball into the opponent's end zone. There are very few rules in the sport, and players are able to issue a number of unconventional commands, such as facial kick, stamp, and ball of fire. Winning is the only thing that matters.

"Chaos League is a game that has had our internal testers playing well into the night, and that's obviously a good sign," said Terry Malham, director, Digital Jesters. "It's an unusual title, which could ordinarily get lost in a large publisher's portfolio. However, we're thrilled to have signed and look forward to giving it the marketing and PR focus only Digital Jesters brings."

In between matches, Chaos League will allow players to get involved in the training and management of their chosen team. The game's transfer league will feature 10 different species of players, each one specializing in a different style of play. Chaos League will also boast a number of multiplayer options, including head-to-head matches on a single PC and online play with a persistent league structure.

Chaos League is currently scheduled for release in the UK in June. We'll bring you more information on the game as soon as it becomes available.
