LAS VEGAS--Ever since it was first shown off at the 2007 Game Developers Conference, LittleBigPlanet has caused a stir. Developed by Rag Doll Kung Fu developer Media Molecule, the quirky PlayStation 3 platformer lets players rapidly construct intricate levels and customize cuddly characters with goofy accoutrements.

Repeated showings of LittleBigPlanet's adorably offbeat creations--including one at the still-ongoing Consumer Electronics Show--have helped stoke enthusiasm for the game's release, which was originally slated for early this year. However, this week at the Consumer Electronics Show, Sony reps confirmed to GameSpot that the game will arrive "this fall" in North America.

Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, British outlet CVG reported it has confirmed with Sony Europe that LittleBigPlanet will arrive in Great Britain this September. When asked by GameSpot, Sony Computer America representatives would not be more specific about the game's US ship date.
