Sony isn't skimping on new content to the PlayStation Store just because it's the week of E3. That's especially the case for the PlayStation 3, which picked up four new downloadable games spanning the shoot-'em-up and strategy genres this week.

Headlining the PS3's new additions for many is a digital version of Klaus Teuber's classic strategy board game Catan. Whereas the Xbox 360 version of Catan was developed by Big Huge Games, the PS3 installment is being handled by Folklore creator Game Republic. The $6.99 title offers competitive strategy, as players attempt to collect 10 points by gathering resources to build settlements, roads, and cities.

Platine Dispositif's bullet-hell shoot-'em-up GundeadliGne also arrives on the PS3's online store this week, at the $5.99 price point. The anime-inspired side-scrolling 2D shooter offers two-player action, as gamers attempt to stave off an infernal invasion.

The shoot-'em-up enthused can also pick up Hitogata Happa and Gundemonium Recollection this week, which cost $5.99 each. As with GundeadliGne, both games are anime-inspired side-scrolling 2D shooters. Players are challenged with surviving swarms of enemies, as well as their accompanying projectiles, and ultimately defeat imposing end-level bosses.

On the PSone Classics front, Square Enix will be releasing Final Fantasy IX for $9.99, having previously put out FFVII and FFVIII on the PSN. Originally released in 2000 to critical acclaim, Final Fantasy IX documents the travails of the plucky youth Zidane, who hatches a plan to make off with Princess Garnet. The game also introduced fan-favorite black mage Vivi.

In addition to a batch of add-on content for games ranging from Battlefield: Bad Company 2 to Record of Agarest War, the PS3's store has demos for Backbreaker, NCAA Football 11, MLB 10: The Show, and Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 1.

PSP gamers can select from 10 new Minis this week. The bite-sized additions include Express Raider, Beam Em Up, Tehra: Dark Warrior, and Yetisports. The PSP store also includes a demo of Team17's Worms: Battle Islands.

A full list of the week's deals and new PlayStation Store content, including themes, wallpapers, demos, discounts, and add-on content, is available on the PlayStation Blog.
