Cartoon Network has announced a release date for OK KO: Let's Play Heroes, the upcoming PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC game based on the OK KO: Let's Be Heroes animated series. The title is slated to launch in the Americas and Europe later this month.

Let's Play Heroes is a retro-style beat-'em-up with light RPG elements. Like the television show from which it was spun off, Let's Play Heroes is set in the town of Lakewood Plaza and stars KO, an aspiring superhero who works at a convenience store for other superheroes. As KO, players fight through side-scrolling stages and acquire POW cards, which allow them to call in other characters from the series for a powerful attack.

The trailer showcases some new gameplay footage and sets the stage for the game's story, which sees the antagonist Lord Boxman reset the power level of every superhero's POW card.

OK KO: Let's Play Heroes releases on January 23. We got to go hands-on with the game at E3 2017 and thought it was enjoyable, particularly its simple but surprisingly flexible battle system. You can watch our full playthrough of the game's E3 demo at the top of this story.

Let's Play Heroes isn't the only game based on a popular Cartoon Network series on the way this year. Bandai Namco recently announced a new Adventure Time game dubbed Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion, which is likewise releasing for PS4, Xbox One, PC, as well as Nintendo Switch. That title is an open-world pirate adventure that features an original story and fan-favorite characters like Finn, Jake, BMO, and more. Pirates of the Enchiridion is slated to launch sometime this spring.
