Carmageddon: Reincarnation hits Steam Early Access March 27

Developer promises more blood and “rivers of livers.”

Carmageddon: Reincarnation will arrive on Steam Early Access on March 27, developer Stainless Games has announced.

Stainless Games has yet to announce a price, but said that Kickstarter backers will be able to play the game two weeks before its Steam release.

Carmageddon: Reincarnation will revive the “points for pedestrians” destruction derby-style car game series, which started in 1997, and was last seen in 2000 with the unfortunate Carmageddon 3: TDR 2000.

“It’s brilliant to see our demonic baby rise screaming from the grave,” Stainless Games co-founder and CEO Patrick Buckland said. “This time we could finally do the stuff that we wanted to do 17 years ago. More blood was the main thing. Rivers of livers – that’s what we wanted. Being publisher as well as developer means we get to be stupid.”

The game was funded on Kickstarter in 2012 with over $625,000, and last year Stainless Games raised an additional $3.5 million from Bullfrog Productions founder Les Edgar, which the developer said would allow it to bring Carmageddon: Reincarnation to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as well as PC.

As the damage tech demo that Stainless released alongside the announcement makes obvious, Carmageddon: Reincarnation is currently in a pre-alpha phase.

Love these games. They were surprisingly deep in the way you can play the levels.

I absolutely loved Carmageddon 1 and 2. The first game consumed my childhood with hours upon hours of doom-inspired vehicle mayhem. The 2nd one was fun for it's added challenges and concepts, although not quite the show-piece that Carma1 was.
I've tried the other games in the series and walked away disappointed...please don't let me down Stainless! PLEASE!

<< LINK REMOVED >> There was nothing like squishing pedestrians into poles, just for the sake of, well, torture? My childhood was ruined by this game. X_x. So much tire .. very blood stains. back and forth, hearing that dreaded lo-fi squishing noise. ugh. Good times though.

The only other one was The death race 2000 and as far as I remember that was not made by the original team.

"Being publisher as well as developer means we get to be stupid"

Hope in a good way.

Quite frankly i'm scared because this is also coming to consoles (yes i i know the original was also on PSX, but games back then weren't being made just for the money like today). Consoles are the main mainstream caterer nowadays. PC doesn't do that much mainstream. But since this is a multiplat release, i'm scared that it will be just like all the mainstream games nowadays. Shallow and super easy.

The game is being made and released on PC first then ported to consoles at a later date.this game was already being made long before the console versions were announced.

More early access? sigh. It like the devs can't trust their own products anymore.

@gamerno66666 You are right. It would be better if devs stop asking for user feedback instead of just trowing at us their products with a "deal with it if you don't like it" seal on them.

Now really: Was that complaining for the sake of it? If you don't want an early access tittle then don't buy it until it's done and problem solved.

@gamerno66666 whats better, early access? or games that are unfinished, that you pay $60 for it?

I agree earyl access is friggin annoying, trick is, dont buy it or play it 3-6 months after it goes on early access.

With early access I just have 1 or 2 gaming sessions a month I love trying them out and seeing them evolve.early access is only a con to people that don't use it or people that don't research what they buy.

<< LINK REMOVED >> Just read the forums. If they read like DayZ, with people ranting about zombies going through walls all the time and the game not working wait.

Rust seems like it'd be fun now. Only Early Game I bought was Dungeon of the Endless. I beat it in 10 minutes, but it's a game I already own that's guaranteed to get better, better, and better and it's already pretty fun too.
