Captain America and Knives Out actor Chris Evans is reportedly set to play Hollywood legend Gene Kelly in an upcoming movie as one of the actor's next projects. Deadline reports that Evans is "rumored" to play Kelly in the film, which stems from an original idea that Evans came up with.

"The film is about a 12-year-old boy who works on the MGM Lot in 1952 and begins to create an imagined friendship with the legendary movie star Kelly while working on his next film," reads a line from the description.

It is still very early days for the project, as no studio has signed on yet, and Evans' own involvement is not confirmed. Whatever the case, Deadline added that Evans will produce the film, should it be made, and Star Wars and Knives Out director Rian Johnson's and Ram Bergman's T-Street Productions will also produce.

John Logan, an acclaimed writer who earned three Oscar nominations (Gladiator, The Aviator, Hugo) is reportedly lined up to write the script and produce as well.

As for Evans, he has a number of upcoming projects in the works, including the Toy Story movie Lightyear, in which he voices a young Buzz Lightyear.
