An independently run game store in Ontario was robbed this weekend of close to $75,000 worth of games and equipment, including 150 copies of Call of Duty: Ghosts.

The burgaralized store was The Game MD, based on Windsor, Ontario.

Owner Roy McLean told CTV News that thieves cut through his store's cement wall, smashed an alarm system, and made off with the goods.

McLean said he was forced to close his store on Monday, preventing him from holding a midnight launch event for Call of Duty: Ghosts.

"We were going to have a midnight launch for this game and I expected to have 100-130 people lined up outside my door," McLean said.

McLean told Kotaku that he was able to receive an emergency shipment of Call of Duty: Ghosts by Tuesday morning, meaning those who preordered did in fact receive a copy on launch day. Only the midnight launch event was canceled.

Windsor police said the robbers also got away with the hard drive that stored the establishment's security video.

"They took all the evidence with them," McLean said. "It is heartbreaking. As a sole proprietor, they didn't steal from a company, they stole from me."

Because the thieves knew where everything was and how to break in without triggering the alarm, McLean said he suspects the burglar is someone he knows. No arrests have been made so far in the case.

Call of Duty: Ghosts was released yesterday on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, and Wii U. The game has generated $1 billion at retail in 24 hours, though that figure includes units sold to retailers, not necessarily consumers. Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions will be available at launch later this month.
