NBA Live 2003 was on hand at Electronic Arts' Camp EA today, and we had a chance to check out some of the game's new features. The game looked very good, even though it's still very early in its development cycle. The game's overall presentation looked very clean and had little cutscenes that played whenever the action on the court stopped and showed star players up close doing various things like disagreeing with a ref's call.

The gameplay and control were already in place, and although the game seemed a little fast-break-friendly, it controlled fairly well. We were told that the development team's main goal has been to really make the tempo of the game much more realistic. For example, when you rebound the ball, block shots, or pass the ball to one of your teammates, it happens right when you want it to.

The PC and PS2 versions of the game will both feature online play. The PS2 version of the game was demonstrated online, and it worked very well, with little to no lag. The versions of the game on the floor today were the PS2 and Xbox builds, but the game will ship for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, and PC this October.
