Calling All Cars! impounded

Designer David Jaffe details last-minute fixes to PlayStation 3 downloadable game that pushed it from previously announced May 3 release date.

Readers perusing the PlayStation 3 offerings of this week's Shippin' Out may have noticed one game that was conspicuous by its absence. Last week, Calling All Cars! designer David Jaffe announced on his blog that the downloadable game was finished and would be available on May 3.

It appears Jaffe spoke too soon, as the designer has posted a note on the NeoGAF forums explaining that Calling All Cars would miss that street date and apologized for the delay. Jaffe cited a pair of crucial bugs discovered at the last second and a gameplay-balance fix as the reasons for the game's belated arrival.

"I was trying to find a way to make it up to those who care about our game and I think what we are going to do is like the first 50 or so people who find me online and can beat me, get a free Calling All Cars bobble head figure," Jaffe wrote. "Is that lame? Not sure. But we'll [probably] do it. Cause we really do feel really, really bad."

Jaffe did not give an updated release date for the game, saying, "We've learned to keep our mouths shut on it so as to not get people's hopes up and then let them down."
