Now Playing: The Worst Guns in Call of Duty: CoD 4 to Modern Warfare 2019

Developer Infinity Ward has revealed that alongside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's upcoming update this week--view the full patch notes here--the studio will disable helicopters in Warzone on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Flying vehicles have been a staple of Call of Duty battle royale experiences for a few years, and were also included in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's Blackout mode, but the change in Warzone could be temporary.

Currently, Infinity Ward has not provided a reason for why helicopters in the standalone battle royale title are disabled. However, over on the Warzone subreddit, it appears helicopters are affecting game balance. Some players are reporting that the airborne vehicles can bug out and end up underneath the map, which allows those piloting them to get free kills.

As explained on the official Call of Duty website, helicopters are the sole aerial vehicle in Warzone and the fastest way to get around Verdansk. They allow a full squad to take to the skies and rain down steel from the comfort of its dense armor plating. While they are massive birds that can be locked-on to with ease, helicopters are pretty agile, making them a tricky target to knockdown.

Also coming to Warzone this week is Blood Money Trios, which replaces the battle royale's Plunder Trios mode. Blood Money Trios will reward you with extra cash for getting kills and taking down enemies. Additionally, Infinity Ward is preparing to launch a Duos mode in Warzone after it is tested some more.

In other Warzone news, Infinity Ward's Taylor Kurosaki has confirmed that the battle royale title will be supported for years to come, even after this year's Call of Duty game drops. Kurosaki also said that Warzone will be the "throughline that connects all the various sub-franchises of Call of Duty."

@eli150: I hope they bring them back. Maybe give them a limited gas tank or something to mitigate the issue. Or more option to bring them out of the sky.
