A pair of real-world war photojournalists used their skills to take photos inside Call of Duty: Vanguard as part of a special promotion for the game and to raise money for charity.

Alex Potter and Sebastiano Piccolomini, who have been embedded in real-life war zones in Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, and Jordan, worked with Activision to capture in-game photos from Vanguard's battlefields.

Potter and Piccolmini used a special virtual camera to step inside the world of Vanguard to capture photos, which will be sold and proceeds given to charity. Check out the video above to see how they took the photos and hear directly from them about the process.

The photographers had great-looking assets to document, as Vanguard used a system called "photogrammetry," which boasts "photoreal" images of people, places, and objects.

"These were situations that I would normally capture," Potter said.

Piccolmini added: "I was impressed with how kinetic and immersive it all was. As photographers, this is what conflict looks like."

The photographs will be available for sale from Bleecker Trading starting today, October 21, at 12 PM PT / 3 PM ET. All proceeds will go to Activision's Call of Duty Endowment charity, which raises money to help place military veterans in jobs.

Vanguard launches on November 5 for console and PC. The release is going ahead as Activision Blizzard faces lawsuits and other investigations related to its workplace culture.
