Call Of Duty: Vanguard And Warzone Season 1 Start Time And Caldera Details

Call of Duty: Vanguard's launch is less than a month away, here's what we know about the first season of content.

Comments

We are quickly approaching the beginning of a new era for both Call of Duty: Vanguard and Call of Duty: Warzone, with the Verdansk map getting replaced as early as today. It's one of the biggest changes we've seen in Warzone thus far. Currently, an event is running to say goodbye to the older map. It's a huge shift for a game that has previously blown up its map--literally--and is sure to reignite interest in Warzone, especially among WW2 buffs. If you're tired of the drab colors of Verdansk, it should get your attention, too.

Prior to the introduction of Caldera, the Verdansk map is going to get a sendoff event on December 6. After that point, there will be a two-day or three-day period before Caldera, depending on whether you own Vanguard or are only playing Warzone.

The Call of Duty: Warzone servers will go dark temporarily beginning on December 7 at 9 PM PT, which is 12 AM ET the following day. They will then go up again for early access to Caldera on December 8 at the same time:

  • Downtime: December 7 at 9 PM PT / December 8 at 12 AM ET.
  • Caldera early access: December 8 at 9 PM PT / December 9 at 12 AM ET.

What To Expect

When Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone enter Season 1, the Caldera map will be the star of the show. Taking place in the Pacific during WW2, which was featured in Wade Jackson's portion of the Vanguard campaign, the map sports a much more colorful aesthetic than Verdansk. The map is set in 1944, while the "current" period in the Vanguard campaign takes place a year later as Berlin has begun to crumble. The map, which you can see below, features 15 different named areas, including a massive field in the center and mines to the northwest.

The new season also comes with the integration of many Vanguard weapons into Warzone. These include the STG-44 and M1 Garand, which are in the game already via the Black Ops Cold War battle pass. Our guide on the best Vanguard weapons to level for Warzone can help you out with not only choosing the ideal guns but also attachments for them.

As for Vanguard, the multiplayer mode will get Modern Warfare 3's Dome map in an updated form called Radar, as well as the new map Paradise. Both are set in the Pacific and launch alongside the beginning of the season. For more on Vanguard and Warzone Season 1, you can check out our look at all the additions.
